The Arnold Strongman Australia Championships is the countries biggest amateur strongman competition attended to by the strongest men and women from Australia and around the world. All competitors earn their place by winning or placing high enough at the best regional qualifying competitions.
Taking place on the 15th, 16th & 17th of March at the Arnold Sports Festival Australia the countries strongest will do battle for a chance to qualify for the Arnold Amateur World Championships and a pathway to the Arnold Pro Strongman & Arnold Pro Strongwoman. This is an invite only competition requiring competitors to have qualified at one of the approved Arnold Strongman competitions over the last 12 months.
Entry to the Arnold Sports Festival Australia for competitors is included in the competition registration fees. All competitors receive a 3 day expo pass. Spectators can purchase tickets to the expo HERE. General entry to the expo allows you to watch all the strongman action in the activity area including the pro and amateur competitions.
A strongman classic that embodies the essence of the sport. Picking up something brutally heavy and moving it from point A to B as fast as possible. A true test of grit, strength and muscular endurance that will push the threshold of all the competitors requiring strong legs, a strong grip and an unbending will to succeed.
This years max deadlift event will be using the Stand or Submit Super Frames with a rising weight format. The lifters will start at the nominated weight for their division and after each successful rep the weight will increase until no more weight can be added or no more reps can be performed.
The Viking press is a true strongman/strongwoman test of shoulder strength and endurance . The long levered frame must be pressed overhead for repetitions without the athlete resting the implement. Strong leg drive, powerful shoulders and a rock solid core along with a perfect tempo are the key to repping out for the time limit.
In this event the competitors must lift a series of odd shaped objects of different weights and sizes up the set of stairs one in the fastest time possible. Moving from step to step requires speed and strength and will test every element of the athletes’ability requiring stamina and skill to conquer.
Friday the 16th-
U65kg Women, U80kg Men, Pro Strongmen
Saturday the 17th-
U82kg Women, U90kg Men, Pro Strongmen
Sunday the 18th-
Open Women, U105kg Men, Heavyweight Men
*Please note all competitors must weigh in (24 hour weigh in available) except for the Open Women and Heavyweight men. All competitors including Open Womens and Heavyweight men will be required to sign in at the designated weigh in/registration to collect their entry passes. This will be between 8am-9am each morning at the exhibition centre (Location TBC) and is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure they are there.
This competition is a world championship qualifier and only to those competitors who have qualified at eligible competitions around the world.
It is a requirement that all Australia based competitors are current members of the Arnold Strongman Australia and that the membership is current at the time of the Arnold Sports Festival Australia in March. Entries to this competition close on Friday the 22nd of February 2019.
